What is Pregnancy Calculator?

A pregnancy calculator is an easy-to-use tool that helps expectant mothers estimate their due date and track their pregnancy progress. It works by using the first day of your last menstrual period (LMP) or the date of conception to calculate how far along you are and predict the expected delivery date. Since pregnancy is typically 40 weeks (280 days) long, the calculator follows this standard method to estimate key pregnancy milestones.

This tool is especially useful for women with regular menstrual cycles. However, for those with irregular cycles, an ultrasound scan offers a more accurate due date. Our pregnancy calculators also provide insights into baby growth, important prenatal checkups, and trimester breakdowns, helping mothers stay informed throughout their journey.

While a pregnancy calculator gives a general timeline, every pregnancy is unique, and medical confirmation through an ultrasound is recommended. Always consult a doctor for a more precise assessment and personalized care.

How It Works

LMP-Based Calculation

The calculator adds 280 days (40 weeks) to the first day of your last period, which is the standard length of a full-term pregnancy.

Conception Date-Based Calculation

If you know the exact date of conception, the calculator adds 266 days to estimate the due date.

Why Use a Pregnancy Calculator?

  • Estimate Your Due Date – Know when your baby is expected to arrive.
  • Track Pregnancy Progress – Determine how far along you are.
  • Plan Prenatal Care – Schedule important scans and checkups at the right time.
  • Understand Baby’s Growth – Follow developmental milestones week by week.

While a pregnancy calculator provides an estimate, a doctor’s confirmation through ultrasound scans gives the most accurate due date.

When Should You Use a Pregnancy Calculator?

A pregnancy calculator is a very impotent tool. It should be used by all expecting mothers and couples to track their pregnancy and babies growth from the moment they come to know that they are expecting till the time of delivery.

How accurate is a pregnancy calculator?

A pregnancy calculator provides an estimated due date based on your last menstrual period (LMP) or conception date. However, actual delivery may vary, and ultrasound scans offer the most precise confirmation.

Most pregnancy calculators add 280 days (40 weeks) to the first day of your last period. If you know the conception date, the calculator adds 266 days to estimate the due date.

If your cycles are irregular, the calculator may not be as accurate. An early ultrasound is the best way to determine your due date in such cases. Book an Ultrasound appointment.

If your pregnancy calculator suggests you are pregnant, schedule a visit with a doctor around 6-8 weeks of pregnancy for confirmation and early prenatal care. Click here to book an appointment with Bengaluru’s best Gynaecologist and Obstetrician.

The calculator counts from the first day of your last menstrual period (LMP). For example, if your LMP was 8 weeks ago, you are considered 8 weeks pregnant, even though conception happened about 6 weeks ago.

Yes, but it’s less precise. You can estimate based on the date of conception if known, or an ultrasound scan can help determine the fetal age.

Yes, but the calculation is different. Your doctor will provide an estimated due date based on the embryo transfer date and IVF treatment details.

Yes, but multiple pregnancies often have slightly different gestational timelines, and actual delivery may happen earlier than 40 weeks. Your doctor will monitor your progress closely.

Why does pregnancy last 40 weeks if a baby is conceived about 38 weeks before birth?

Pregnancy is measured from the first day of your last period, not from conception. Since ovulation occurs around two weeks after the period starts, doctors include those two weeks in the pregnancy count.

Ultrasound scans, especially in early pregnancy, provide a more accurate due date than LMP-based calculations. If the due date differs by more than 7 days, your doctor may adjust it.

No, the calculator only estimates dates. Determination of babies gender is illegal and banned in India. Determining the babies gender is punishable as per Indian Law.

Start prenatal care, maintain a healthy lifestyle. Book an appointment with a pregnancy and maternity doctor at Nectar MCH and follow your doctor’s advice to ensure a smooth pregnancy journey.

No, it only estimates your due date based on your LMP or conception date. To confirm pregnancy, take a home pregnancy test or visit a doctor.
