Dr. Sumira Mubeen — Physician & Lactation Specialist

Dr. Sumira Mubeen is a General Physician and an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) with over 30 years of experience in general medicine and 16 years of dedicated experience in lactation care. Her clinical practice combines medical expertise with a compassionate, evidence-based approach to supporting mothers, newborns, and families throughout their breastfeeding journey.

Dr. Sumira Mubeen has extensive experience in both antenatal and postnatal lactation care and provides comprehensive counselling and clinical support for mothers during pregnancy, preparing them for successful breastfeeding, and helping address breastfeeding challenges following delivery. Her areas of expertise include breastfeeding difficulties, positioning and attachment, painful breastfeeding, nipple problems, engorgement, blocked ducts, mastitis, low milk supply, oversupply, infant feeding difficulties, breast and nipple conditions, and breastfeeding support for mothers of premature and medically vulnerable babies.

Dr. Sumira Mubeen has served as a Lactation Consultant at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), Qatar, for 10 years, gaining valuable experience in a multidisciplinary maternity and neonatal care environment. Subsequently, she has worked with Apollo Cradle and has also been associated with Apollo 24/7, supporting mothers with personalised lactation guidance. She currently practises as a Lactation Consultant at Nectar Mother & Child Hospital, Bengaluru.
